Swing Those Mustard Hips!

Week "two" down! Surprisingly, we still haven't had a Monday of classes yet. Weird, right?

I tried getting a picture of my lecture halls but it just wasn't working out. I'm going to have to try harder in the future. Here's what I have as of now... this is at my Finance lecture. Someone said they were kind of afraid of the business lectures because they're like huge pits, and now that I take a step back and look at it, they really are kind of intimidating. I've just gotten used to them.

So real estate is kind of freaking me out. She said multiple multiple times, "There is a ton of math, if you don't like math, get out now." And although I'm ok with math, I'm not exactly an avid fan of math. Especially when I have Finance this semester as well.

This week seems to have been inundated with Pres House events, which can be daunting at times, although they are always fun. The major event of the week was the "Kickoff Carnival". We had sno cones, a photo booth, mustard bowling, balloon hats, marshmallow golf... the list goes on. It was a lot of fun. :)

Along with the mustard bowling, Hannah also had a mustard costume. Christy pretty much rocked it.

So if the name didn't tip you off, Mustard bowling is like bowling, only using (empty) mustard containers. Of course, there are other uses for mustard containers.

She would.

Then of course there were the balloon hats...

Then there was the marriage of the two... mustard AND balloon hats? Always a good idea.

And after 2.5 hours of doing nothing but socializing and eating sno cones, cotton candy, cookies, frosting, and lemonade... there was a lot of hyperactivity to wear off. Therefore dancing ended up going down. It really was a beautiful sight. Surreal almost.

On Friday, Mandy and her roommates were having a party. A huge party. There were 115 confirmed guests on the facebook invite. Way too huge. But, we felt obligated to go. Right when we got there they ran out of cups; they had already sold all 150 that they'd bought. So we attempted to go into the house. Let me tell you, I might have enjoyed this as a Freshman, but I am long past the point where this would be fun. There were hundreds of bodies packed into the dark (it was a highlighter/black light party) sweaty, smelly basement. Why are the images so foggy? Because it was a nice cool night outside, but when we went inside there was probably a 20 degree difference and my camera lens fogged up and we didn't stay down in the mess long enough for it to de-fog.

On the upside, Mandy showed us around her room/apartment that wasn't full of people and it's really adorable.

It's In My Mouth! You Got it In My Mouth!

Classes have begun!!! It feels good. I am so ready to not be at Micro (or Feedbag which is a deli in the Vet. Sciences building. I know, the name isn't pretty. But neither is the Feedbag.) 24/7. The last day was just frustrating enough to push me over the edge into ripping hair out stage. At least Alyssa (from work) made muffins! It was the one bright point in the day.

It says: For Haley, Hope the Feedbag doesn't suck too much.

Don't they look delicious?!

So the stupid idea of the week definitely came on Monday. At our party, I was the brilliant one who was like "Laur!!! You're leaving for Spain! Write your name on our entryway wall!!!" Which of course she did. Because really, who doesn't love drawing on walls? No one. Obvi everyone wanted in on that, so the wall ended up being a masterpiece (maybe not the right word) of names and doodles. Unfortunately though, the wall crossed over to another wall, and someone swore.

We all decided the swearing had to go. (We are going to keep this house classy!) So, Allie (Alyssa Sands, I'm trying to get the nickname to stick so I can keep her and Alyssa Hopkins straight) being the responsible one in the house, went out and bought some paint at an art store. But it was a tiny can, and you could still see the writing through the blotches that didn't match the regular wall color.

I remembered seeing rusty old paint cans in the basement when we went to look at the breakers when our power went out. We went and grabbed one of the cans, pried it open and looked into a can full of brown nastiness. So we stirred it and it became chunky yellow nasty that had a layer of "paint' on top. So we used it. We didn't have paint brushes, but we did have sponges.

On the wall it went. And with any painting, it got on us as well. Lyss was the first to head to the sink while Allie and I were still painting. We heard her laugh/cry from the kitchen, "It isn't coming off!"

We went to try and get the paint off of us, but had no more luck, the water just repelled off the paint, and soap didn't help. So, we got out all the nail polish remover in the house, and that did work a lot better, but we definitely still had paint everywhere. Then, Lyss had the brilliant idea to convince Em, who had no idea the paint wasn't coming off, to let her give her "war paint". This resulted in retribution, and in the end, I don't think any of us were too happy.

On top of that, the paint smelled AWFUL. Not like paint awful... Lyss said it smelled like burning hair, I thought sulfur... we all agreed it was really really bad. The smell has definitely gotten better after five days, but if you get your nose too close to the wall, you can still smell it.

Surprising as it may seem, the wall did turn out well. Mission accomplished I guess.

All the roomies are finally here!!! I'm sad I'm not in this.

Want to join our band? The garbage cans were purposeful... not my idea.

Lyss prolly won't like this pic, but I do. True emotion! I think she gives me this look a lot.

So I haven't worked up the courage to whip my camera out before lecture... but next week I swear!! It's going down. I'll give you guys a pic of Finance and Eng. 215 or something so you can compare the niceness of the Bus. school to the crappiness of Humanities which are the two buildings I have class in. You can definitely tell who makes the money.

In Finance, it was the greatest ever! Belinda is the Fin. 300 prof, and she's British with an awesome life. Anyway, this guy came in about ten minutes late with a long board. Nonchalantly, in a packed lecture hall of 200 students, she says, "That must not be a very fast mode of transportation." And then is about to go on when the whole class starts cracking up. She starts laughing as well and I believe the only one not laughing was the guy with the long board, and he hadn't heard what she said so he just stood there looking lost and confused. It only helped the situation. I may hate Finance this next semester, but I think I'll still like Belinda.

Over and out.
