Young, Wild, and Free

I do believe I'm known as a picky eater. I have this vivid memory of being somewhere fancy, my mom furious and demanding I eat some nasty thing... probably an onion or something, so I plugged my nose, while crying, and took a bite pretending it was a cookie. It didn't work. I felt like I was going to vomit. And she told me to stop because I was embarrassing her.

BUUUTTT that was a long time ago, and now my palate is sophisticated enough to enjoy raw fish. Who woulda thunk!

Bridge introduced us to Ginza's and we got our own "tea room" they called them.

Went to Chicago this weekend... idk, I wasn't inspired or something. I took all of 8 pics. Here's the best of them, which is nothing to write home about. Oh well, I'll just have to go back.

For P House, Hannah and her crew decided they're sending a postcard to all the incoming frosh, saying something like "Worst Gift Ever: ______" Best Gift Ever: Finding Yourself Among Friends" Hannah and I went to Ragstock looking for the worst gift ever. Pretty sure we found it. "Worst Gift Ever: Long Johns in July"

Hannah rocked those long johns for shiz. Even though we went to a beach. Even though there were a ton of people around slightly gawking at us.

Is Southern a Foreign Accent?

So I shut my laptop unthinkingly before all my pics were uploaded to flickr. So, I only got a few of the pics I wanted to put up, but there will be more to come!

Bri's bday party!

It was lush and frisky and wild and loaded and tanked... well we had bracelets that said it was all those things. Actually, the braclets said we were all those things. I was "tanked" but then I traded for "loaded". I like loaded because it could have a couple different meanings.

Whiskey River was dead. (It was a Sunday night.) So we had the whole dance floor to ourselves. Obvi we showed off our skillz.

This is the only pic I have from night golfing that uploaded! I considered waiting until I got home so I could do them all together, but knowing me it will be friday that I'll get around to posting again.

Look! We're in a tree!
IMG_8155

We were about to park the car on a side street close to the golf course. We drove past this old woman shuffling down the road, in the dark, at 11pm at night, so we did a lap around the block. Someone suggested this woman was some prophetic omen and she'd limp slowly over to us and stare creepily, and we'd be paralyzed as she whispered some fate waiting for us. I was more of the opinion that she herself would be the cause of our death and that as we were walking the course she was up in the trees, crawling about like some over-sized, under-legged spider, waiting for her chance to strike.

Neither of these guesses came to be, and we never saw the old woman again.

Hyggelig

“The fairway follows the road, so anyone could see us for the whole first hole from the road. Well some cop was driving past, saw us, and turned his lights on. So my friend, Sue,” I’m not actually sure what Paul said his friend’s name is. It definitely isn’t Sue. It was 2:30am last night when Paul was telling us this story, driving back from the golf course, and little details like that just don’t stick in my head.

Sue was actually a man that called MLG; he was rather persnickety. None of the brokers were in and Sue didn’t want to leave any details with us, so he informed us that if Natter wanted his business, he would just have to listen to the message Sue had left on his cell phone and call back. (David Natter is one of the brokers. There used to be three Davids in the office, so now even though he’s the only Dave, he’s still often referred to as Natter.)

Julie also got the chance to talk to Sue and we were both convinced Sue was rather strange. Sue called back after an hour and Natter was in at this point so I transferred the call over. When Natter hung up the phone he turned to Julie and me and said, “That wasn’t a man.” He shook his head, “I’ve met this woman, and she is a whole lotta crazy.” He turned and looked at me then, “Haley, this woman… I did a deal with her about five years ago. I stared into her eyes, she was sitting across from me and I stared into her eyes, and there was nothing there.” I believe that.

But back to Paul’s story. “Sue,” whose name isn’t actually Sue, “is this huge guy, looks like a sumo wrestler, but he’s a super nice guy and he went over and started sweet talking the cop, explaining why we were here and that we were just playing a little night golf.” In the end, the cop laughed and gave them the ok. Paul said he left them saying, “Sorry for interrupting your round.”

Pretty cool, but I’m glad the cops didn’t show up last night. It would have ruined the mood. Everything was a shade of silver. The moon was huge, casting long shadows and there was fog hanging in the distance. I didn’t bring my camera and I’m still kicking myself for it.

So in conclusion, if I could pick any time to play golf, it would be 11pm.

Salty Decisions

Meg and I went on a photo excursion!

I wasn't going to post any of these pics until I had them all together, but Meg's are just too great! Color: Black. Rawr. She stood in front of a garage with its door open, so it was all dark inside i.e. the perfect black background!

Here to Satisfy Your Pin Cushion Needs

There was a tornado warning! It poured and wind blew around and newscasters got all bent out of shape and we all crowded around and watched the tv with avid attention as they said the same thing over and over.

Luckily we had wine to dull the fear. And a delicious meal brought to you by Hannah and Allison's amazing cooking skills. Spaghetti and Meatballs! (Almost rivals Mary Jean's... almost.)

What were people's last words as the tornado was swooping? (Hypothetically)

Cody Hanson's was my favorite: "love you haley." What a sweetie!!!

Hannah, in her usual insightful way, suggested she'd call her parents.

Chris went all melancholy and said "Oh what could have been..." Deep, Chris. Real deep.

Bridge said "This tornado will not touch my bones! Haha, get it.. that pun so kinda works" (we were going to stones and bones a.k.a. keystone and wings at Brother's later that night.)

I suggested, "You won't take me ALIVE mutha f**ka!!!! and then I would leap into the air as the tornado ripped the roof off and gallantly do combat with the tornado ultimately leading to my heroic defeat. Yea, juxtapose that with this pic...

I've read multiple places that a camera shows your perspective on the world. These next two pics were taken by Paul and seriously... his world is messed up.

Soooo after the threat of inevitable demise left, we went to Brother's! There was a huge line for wings (understandably so since they're so delicious) but when Lyss, Bridge, and I came back from the bathroom Lin and Paul had magically procured wings from somewhere. Supposedly they'd been abandoned at a table. They scoped it out for a bit and then swooped. We took the wings upstairs, where there was some kind of work party with middle-aged people mingling and sat in a corner and ate these slightly cold wings.

This is a candid shot. Not posed whatsoever. I swear this time! Not lying!

Anywho... on a new tangent I went home this weekend! Susan and Steve are working MACHINES. I helped kind of. Mostly I just posed and made it look like I was working.

The reason I went home this weekend was for Lance and Cody's grad party at my Dad's house.

Mia and Grace with Dad and Grandpa

I don't think I can express how much I care for everyone in this picture. I miss them a lot. It makes my heart hurt.

But we're going to drink it up in Mexico sometimes soon. ;)

Aaron's got himself a new fiance. Congrats Cuz.

Onto a less sober topic... Alyssa Sands, the last roomie, turned 21 Yesterday!

Yea, I live with crazies.

All of us together?!?!

Bday girl at the Bar!

To the Terrace!!!

Oh chyea, I would not mind if I spent my whole summer on the Terrace. When I'm not at work, life seems to be a blur of grilling, drinking, sunning, chatting, eating... so all good stuff! Altho I need to cut back on the spending as well. This whole being 21 thing can very easily get out of hand.

You can rent canoes and kayaks from the Union! That is a goal before the end of the summer.

We were sitting on a dock for about two hours watching these kids frolic in the water and pull up this nasty seaweed and throw it at each other. Two hours! And there were no parents in sight. Finally the rents strolled up, from some far away place, and said a few words to their kids. Then they were off again, after dropping a few bucks for food off. Maybe I'm being a little over protective, but seriously? Two hours! "Yep, Momma. They're still alive. Let's get another pitcher before we drive the dirty hooligans home."

This dude was showing off h core, weaving around in the crowded water right in front of the terrace and then circling around and doing it again. We get it dude, you know how to steer a sailboat.

These guys were playing some music for us all to enjoy. I stopped while strolling by, put my camera to my face, and this guy was like: Bam! Intense Face! And then I snapped.

Collage of Lime Faces. My favorite is how each expression is so different.

So picturesk! That night was pretty great. (text) Invitations were sent to a whole bunch of random people to come over to Palisades to grill, and everyone got along, and it wasn't awkward, and the night was a success!

This is the girl's flip cup team! It's very hard to keep an intense face when you're trying not to laugh. The record, you're wondering? We won. The last game that is.

"But really, Haley." you say to yourself. "How many games did you play?" Hmmm. 10. So yes, the score, in the boys favor, was 9 to 1.

"What's your spirit animal?" Is one of my favorite questions to ask/try and figure out. Dmitriy, in contradiction to this picture, is a black bear. I'm a gazelle. Don't fight it. "Appreciated for their grace, it is a symbol most commonly associated in Arabic literature with female beauty." bahahaha, that pretty much sums me up, aye? I am NOT a slow loris.

Candid Colie!!!

Had my first ever Bloody Mary

The weather has been HOT. Like 99 degrees the other day and Claire suggested that would make a brilliant sunset. She was very very very right. Gorgeous if I do say so myself. You couldn't have taken a bad pic if you tried!!

I think I would have liked this better with a little more dock in the foreground. Still good though.

Long exposure shot! Gonna have to start messing around with that a little bit more.
