To the Terrace!!!

Oh chyea, I would not mind if I spent my whole summer on the Terrace. When I'm not at work, life seems to be a blur of grilling, drinking, sunning, chatting, eating... so all good stuff! Altho I need to cut back on the spending as well. This whole being 21 thing can very easily get out of hand.

You can rent canoes and kayaks from the Union! That is a goal before the end of the summer.

We were sitting on a dock for about two hours watching these kids frolic in the water and pull up this nasty seaweed and throw it at each other. Two hours! And there were no parents in sight. Finally the rents strolled up, from some far away place, and said a few words to their kids. Then they were off again, after dropping a few bucks for food off. Maybe I'm being a little over protective, but seriously? Two hours! "Yep, Momma. They're still alive. Let's get another pitcher before we drive the dirty hooligans home."

This dude was showing off h core, weaving around in the crowded water right in front of the terrace and then circling around and doing it again. We get it dude, you know how to steer a sailboat.

These guys were playing some music for us all to enjoy. I stopped while strolling by, put my camera to my face, and this guy was like: Bam! Intense Face! And then I snapped.

Collage of Lime Faces. My favorite is how each expression is so different.

So picturesk! That night was pretty great. (text) Invitations were sent to a whole bunch of random people to come over to Palisades to grill, and everyone got along, and it wasn't awkward, and the night was a success!

This is the girl's flip cup team! It's very hard to keep an intense face when you're trying not to laugh. The record, you're wondering? We won. The last game that is.

"But really, Haley." you say to yourself. "How many games did you play?" Hmmm. 10. So yes, the score, in the boys favor, was 9 to 1.

"What's your spirit animal?" Is one of my favorite questions to ask/try and figure out. Dmitriy, in contradiction to this picture, is a black bear. I'm a gazelle. Don't fight it. "Appreciated for their grace, it is a symbol most commonly associated in Arabic literature with female beauty." bahahaha, that pretty much sums me up, aye? I am NOT a slow loris.

Candid Colie!!!

Had my first ever Bloody Mary

The weather has been HOT. Like 99 degrees the other day and Claire suggested that would make a brilliant sunset. She was very very very right. Gorgeous if I do say so myself. You couldn't have taken a bad pic if you tried!!

I think I would have liked this better with a little more dock in the foreground. Still good though.

Long exposure shot! Gonna have to start messing around with that a little bit more.

Sandy Virginias

The beauty of sports is being outside in the sun, but never staying in one position too long so you get lots of sun-to-skin angles. (There's this whole nagging "I must be tan! It's the summer" phase I'm going through.)

Pics throughout slightly unrelated. Went and chilled on the docs with Meg + crew for some sun action.

Vitamin D, check. Skin cells burning and dying, check.

In the name of vanity, I decided to read on Bascom Hill the other day (Never Let Me Go). The backs of my legs... oh man. Red. And a very obvious break between where my legs were scorched and where they were not.

I really shouldn't be so dumb. Rotation is key! And patience! I spend long, arduous minutes: crouching down uncomfortably, feeling the pain of fire scorching my face and hands, holding my tired arms out and slowly rotating the not-quite-perfect stick I found after searching in the chilly, creepy darkness outside the campfire. Some would say it's not worth it. Stick it in the fire, let it burn, and then blow it out. It'll taste fine.

But they don't understand! Marshmallow nirvana is worth it!

You would think it would be natural to apply this very same standard to my skin, something much more precious.

Transitioning to different thought...

I've realized books are a very dangerous thing to put in my hands. As long as I'm slightly interested, once I start, I cannot stop. I just can't. I started "Never Let Me Go" yesterday. I just finished it a few minutes ago. It's a compulsion. I HAVE to know what happens. Even if I know it's going to be nothing good.

Also, I don't like how much reading makes me think, and feel like I don't completely understand. I just keep gnawing away at it, trying to sort my thoughts out and figure the book out. And then I slightly give up, which makes me disappointed with myself. That is, if it has any kind of depth to it.

Maybe that's why I usually stick to what I've already read. I love rereading, probably because it's not a challenge.

I'm going to try and read more this summer, and not what I've read before. I think next on my list is "The Great Gatsby".

Lyss keeps falling down stairs when she's wearing flats because she's so used to wearing heels. Pretty sure she was born to be business.

I lurve being home. (I was in Chip this weekend) It's a nice change of pace, a.k.a. a lot more relaxed and lazy. Yet, I always am slightly annoyed with myself when I sit on the couch watching tv for hours. I don't do that in Madison but for some reason I can't help myself when I'm at home.

Trippy.

Good work Paul. Don't really know why I like this pic.

Oh yeah, also went to ground school for Hoofer's Sailing Club. Probs not going much further than that. It's expensive to join and I don't have enough of a passion/urge to learn to sail to justify it.

Oh, how cliche... yet so necessary!

b.t. dubs, the title refers to a vball team I played on tonight, just to step in when they were low on players. :) Fun stuff, altho I realized just how terrible I've gotten at volleyball.

The Chiropractor Wants the Space. We're Moving.

So I'm working at NAI MLG Commercial which is a real estate brokerage company. Good stuff. Anyway, I've been there about a month now and we've already moved twice. Not to say this happens a lot, I was just lucky enough to come in when there are a whole bunch of deals working out.

See we just moved into this space that we knew we were only going to be in temporarily so we signed a month-to-month lease. This means that either us, or the owner only has to give us 30 days notice and then we have to be out. Anyway, another tenant in the building has been talking about expanding into the space we moved into for months and I guess seeing us move in triggered his written commitment. He wants to be open and running for business by July 1st and so Julie and I started repacking everything yesterday, just two days after the movers had removed the carts we carried everything in on.

I'm sure it will be an interesting summer, I've already learned a ton and I love everyone I work with! I feel like this is an overly P.C. post, but just gotsta be careful!!!

I've been taking pics of people in front of different color backgrounds too which is turning out pretty cool so far. I have 10 people in different colors so far and I'm hoping to have way way more than that by the end of the summer! I think I'm going to keep them under wraps though until I have a lot more and then I'll put them out all at once!

Responsibilities!

Aw man, sorry guys. I know this has been quite the leave of absence. I was in Tomah over the weekend though without internet... there was dial up, but I was told your computer has to be like... connected... with a telephone cable or something? It's beyond me.

Tired though... so I'm just going to post pics. It's not that I haven't been taking pictures! (That's the easy part) I just haven't gotten around to this babay. Ok let's see what we've got...

The night of Em's Bday... I didn't really partake

The Union Terrace is probs one of my top three favorite places on campus.

Lyss works at Chasers. A.k.a. V.I.P.

P House went to Tomah. Legit the frickin middle of nowhere. We had Amish neighbors! The woman gave us this weird, death wave.

Will reminds me of Lance SO MUCH. It's creepy. And adorable.

Love the truck in the back.

Seriously. Middle of nowhere.

Every time you tell Sophie, "Smile Soph!" She overthinks it and gives ya this. haha.

There was some mad dancin skillz up in herrr! P House Gangsta style!

This is Me Blanking on a Title

Had girls night yesterday with the Micro Cafe Girls. Diana is going back to Malaysia Sunday and she will be missed. Oh U.S. Visas, such finicky beasts. We started out with margaritas and dinner at Pedros! Alyssa B is not 21 and therefore deemed our DD. She kinda got the shaft; she had to chauffeur us around AND couldn't drink. Emma and Diana thought the margaritas were strong, but I didn't. What does that say? Besides! Anything this pretty can't be that alcoholic, right?

We hit up the movie theater then and watched "Bridesmaids". Pretty sure this is the first time since last summer that I've gone to a movie theater. Don't know why but I was a crying MACHINE last night. Don't let this mislead you, Bridesmaids is hilarious... it just had some moments that really struck me. But then again, I cried over a preview so that should say something... hmmmm moving on.

Then we parted ways and I went to The Blue Velvet, a.k.a. the BV, a.k.a the ritziest joint around. (not true) Had a martini! It was called a "Cafe Velvet". Frickin amazing! Wish I woulda brought my camera. :( Next time guys, next time.

Summa 2011

Is this what you think it is?!?! HECK YES IT IS!!!! I am once again embarking on an attempt to take a photo a day and blog... hopefully I can keep it up. :) Strength! Motivation! Will power! Huzah!!!

Yesterday I helped jump Lyss' car! I've never done something so mechanic! It was quite the process... we had a lot of Good Samaritan help along the way too.

And in the end... SUCCESS! We just about had given up hope after sitting there for ten minutes and it not working (my car is a lot smaller than hers) but then one of the many men that stepped in to help us opened her car door (to try one last time to start the engine before we called in the big guns) and the dome light turned on! Humans: 1 Battery: 0. But really, the battery won in the end as well since we saved its life! Humans: 1 Battery: 1. So it's a tie I guess.

These other few pics are from a while ago. During finals week I did a fashion photo shoot with Meg and Molly for the magazine MODA which Meg writes for.

Shout Out to Steve, for being my number one fan and still checking in on the blog to see what's up. And for covering my fee for going over texting this month... hope all is well on the frog pond.
